For which media can plunger valves be used?

Plunger valves are suitable for untreated water, drinking water and also for cooling water at temperatures of normally up to 50 °C. Another field of application is regulating the inlet air for the activation tanks in sewage treatment plants.

Plunger valves in a standard design are also used for the medium of air, since far better characteristic control curves can be achieved with plunger valves than with parallel slide gate valves or butterfly-type valves. Plunger valves may not be used in media that contain oil and gas. Using the valves here can destroy the seals. Plunger valves that are rubber-lined on the inside are available for special uses such as sea water.
